Not sure enjoying quite the right word. Mostly finding it very sad. Recognised a lot of my Manchester childhood in the first parts, which are almost too lyrical. But am now three-quarters of the way through and it is looking less and less like there will be a happy ending. Deliberately didn’t read any reviews before I started, hope the dinner discussion didn’t end in a fight!
I can’t stop now I have started. It is raising all sorts of emotions, if ever there was a book that called on the reader to play their part, this is one of them.
